At CFA, we understand that the journey of supporting a child with developmental challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming for parents. Along with therapeutic services for children, CFA places strong emphasis on psychological support and guidance for parents, helping them feel more confident, informed, and emotionally supported in their role.
One of the important initiatives at CFA is the Live Parent Workshop, designed to provide parents with practical exposure to therapeutic strategies used with their children. In these sessions, parents are invited to observe therapy sessions closely so they can understand how professionals interact with children, structure activities, and manage different behaviours in a supportive manner.
After observing the sessions, parents are encouraged to actively participate and attempt working with their own child under the guidance of trained professionals. This hands-on experience allows parents to practice simple techniques, understand their child’s responses, and gain greater confidence in applying these strategies at home.
Following the practical interaction, the workshop continues with group discussion sessions where parents share their observations, experiences, and challenges faced while working with their children. These discussions create a supportive environment where parents realize that many others are going through similar situations and can learn from each other’s experiences.
Professionals at CFA facilitate these discussions by providing practical suggestions, emotional guidance, and problem-solving strategies to address common concerns. Parents also receive encouragement and reassurance, helping them feel more capable and less isolated in their journey.
Through this Psychological Parent Support initiative, CFA aims to create a strong partnership between professionals and families. By learning together, sharing experiences, and supporting one another, parents gain the knowledge, confidence, and emotional strength needed to actively participate in their child’s development and wellbeing.
